Our special events celebrate memorable occasions throughout the year and create many business opportunities for our members as well as recreational and educational opportunities for the whole family .
There is always something to do: From spring's "Cinco de Mayo" to Hispanic and international film festivals and government procurement fairs in the fall, and even to the last jingle bell at year's end with our annual Poinsettia Festival Awards Banquet and Dance that celebrates the Chamber and members' accomplishments.
Also, we celebrate National Hispanic Heritage Month, National Family Literacy Day, International Literacy Day, National Small Business Week, National Women's History Month, National Poinsettia Day, Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Thanksgiving Day and the Fourth of July, and many national holidays of profound signicance to our American heritage such as President's Day, Martin Luther King's Day, Veteran's Day and Memorial Day.
Finally, we partner with like-minded organizations and the news media to bring health and consumer information as well as recreational and educational activities the entire family can enjoy. Check our Calendar of Events frequently and mark on your calendar events those that may be of greatest interest to you!
Our annual signature events are:

On July 4, we celebrate the 240th anniversary of the declaration of American independence. On July 2, 1776, the 13 colonies convened as the Second Continental Congress in Philadelphia and, in closed session, voted to approve the resolution of independence that Richard Henry Lee of Virginia had proposed a month earlier. Congress then turned its attention to debating, revising, and finally approving its declaration of independence from British rule. The document had been drafted by a committee of five with Thomas Jefferson as its principal author.
The MAHCC, a multistate chamber of commerce, is a recognized and respected voice in the Mid-Atlantic region. It serves as an advocate for the business community in five states and the District of Columbia and steadily maintains a pro-business and pro-jobs posture in critical areas like transportation, education, government procurement, education, literacy in English, taxation, and healthcare, among others.
For all practical purposes, "Cinco de Mayo" (Spanish for "Fifth of May") in the United States is a national day that celebrates the culture and experiences of Americans of Mexican descent, much as St. Patrick's Day, Oktoberfest, and the Chinese New Year are used to celebrate the cultural heritage and contributions of Americans of Irish, German, and Chinese ancestry, respectively.
National Hispanic Heritage Month is the period from September 15 to October 15, when the American people recognize Hispanic and Latino Americans whose ancestors came from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean and Central and South America, and celebrate their histories, cultures and contributions to the nation's well-being.

Procurement fairs, trade shows and conferences are excellent means for promoting your products and services, but they are most beneficial to both buyers and suppliers when accompanied by a matchmaking event that brings businesspeople (suppliers) face-to-face with other businesses and agencies (buyers) in need of products or services. The Greater Washington Procurement Fair & Matchmaking Event, now in its second year, offers that opportunity. Moreover, in partnership with ShoWorks, Inc., we offer our local businesses in the Greater Baltimore region and beyond a second procurement fair and Matchmaking event at the Baltimore Convention Center.
