Fujimar Restaurant and Lima Bar & Lounge Fujimar is a three-tier restaurant, bar and lounge with an outdoor patio open year round (tented and heated during winter). Fujimar Restaurant is an Asian-Latino, nouveau cuisine restaurant serving ceviche, lobster, sushi and more. Chef Mendizabal’s dishes reflect the confluence of Asian and Latin cuisines in a menu that interprets how Asian immigrants to Latin America adapted their cuisine to the New World ingredients and Latin culture. Meat, seafood and produce are carefully selected to the highest standards highlighting their own true flavors and origin. Inparticular, Fujimar’s ceviche and sushi bar will feature unusual delicacies like Tasmanian King Salmon and Hapu’up’u.
Chefs Ari and Micah Wilder designed Fujimar’s beverage program utilizing locally sourced and seasonal ingredients in drinks created using classic techniques. The wine list features imports produced by artisan winemakers, ranging from the mineral-laden Austrian Gruner Veltliner and German Rieslings to Cru Beaujolais and Priorat.
Since being remodeled and expanded in November of 2008, LIMA has positioned itself as an all-in-one destination, enticing patrons to eat, drink, lounge and dance the night away. The floor plan is conducive to a wide variety of event configurations and includes use of the bar, lounge, patio and dining rooms. LIMA Restaurant offers several private and semi-private rooms for receptions, buffets and seated dinners as well as full restaurant buyouts. By press and patrons alike, Lima has beenrecognized as a unique venue for its cuisine, design and nightlife.
About Raynold Mendizabal, Chef
Chef Raynold, a physics and math researcher, moved to the States from Cuba in 1995. Once here, he pursued his other passion—cooking. By the end of 2001, Raynold landed a chef position at Pesce in Dupont Circle where he worked for more than two years. In 2003, he joined forces with Latin Concepts to supervise the hip Latin restaurant Aguardiente, as well as to oversee the development of another Latin venture, Ceviche. Shortly thereafter, Raynold became a partner at LIMA, which has become one of the most successful restaurants and party spots in the District since it opened its doors in 2006. And in case you may be wondering, he still does math.
