About

Panas specializes in Latin fusion gourmet empanadas, crescent-shaped turnovers, stuffed with well seasoned combinations of meats, vegetables, spices, fruits, and sweets. Our recipes are inspired by the idea of Latin Fusion cuisine; a culinary concept based on creating new recipes by combining traditional and modern culinary techniques and mixing ingredients from different countries in the Americas. The only empanadas' tradition we want to preserve is that empanadas are a great idea and fun package for food.

Panas was just abbreviation we were using for the word 'empanadas'. But then we realized that in a few countries in Latin America, the word "pana" and "panas" means friend(s) or buddy(ies).

  • Our dough is 100% natural: We make it fresh daily with stone-ground wheat flour, free of preservatives or bleaching agents; no lard, no transfats, and no animal fats;
  • Real ingredients: All-natural chicken, pork and grass-fed beef with no hormones or antibiotics; no processed ingredients; no additives or preservatives, and no fillers;
  • Our food: Our salads and dripping sauces are made fresh daily at our restaurants and our empanadas and other sides are made daily at our USDA certified Central kitchen in Rockville.

In other words, delicious empanadas that are whole, natural and fresh, inside and out

Review - Panas Gourmet Empanadas - Washington, DC
Catherine Barker, The Washington Post | June 21, 2010

Argentina might not have won the World Cup this year, but with the recent addition of Panas Gourmet in Dupont Circle, the country's beloved empanadas are winning points here, one delectable stuffed pastry at a time.
