About

Chef Richard Sandoval invites you to gather, dine and raise a glass at El Centro, D.F. - Georgetown. Authentic Mexican comfort food and fine Tequilas are served in three vibrant spaces: the tequileria is on the ground floor, the dining room on the second floor, and the third space is a rooftop patio.

The drink menu offers over 225 tequilas, 45 mezcals, at least 10 house-infused tequilas, and a variety of frozen and regular margaritas, served in four different bars.

The food menu features items such as octopus taco and four types of guacamole, including crab and tuna tartare. The restaurant's decor is inspired by Mexico City, with Mexican newspapers incorporated into the design.

New Things to Look For at El Centro D.F. Georgetown
Anna Spiegel, Washintonian Magazine | September 10, 2013

Infused tequilas, bottomless brunch, and a spacious patio land on Wisconsin Avenue. Prolific restaurateur Richard Sandoval—who's behind Masa 14, Zengo, Ambar, and more—just debuted his first sister eatery in the area: a sibling for 14th Street Mexican spot El Centro D.F. It's spread out over two floors in the former Third Edition space and has a spacious patio for savoring the last days of summery weather over margaritas.

Megan Arellano, Washington City Paper | September 6, 2013

Bandolero gets a new hip-Mex competitor, just a block away, with today's opening of restaurateur Richard Sandoval's second El Centro D.F., in Georgetown.Although standby dishes remain, the second El Centro promises to be more than a carbon copy of the 14th Street NW location. Chef Juan Romero, who's worked at El Centro since it first opened in May of 2011, traveled around Mexico with Sandoval in order to create new items for the Georgetown location. Romero says one of the new dishes he's most excited about is his "Vuelve a la Vida" entrée with octopus, shrimp, chorizo, and tomatillo salsa.

Third Edition space transforms into El Centro, opening next week
Rebecca Cooper, Washington Business Journal | August 28, 2013

Where modern Mexican El Centro will open next week, there are shadows of Third Edition, the dank but beloved bar on Wisconsin Avenue that it replaces.
Third Edition, which was open for 30 years and served as the exterior of the bar in the Brat Pack favorite St. Elmo's Fire, lives on in a small way through a dripping red number three still on the wall upstairs and a second floor bar that still looks out onto an expansive back patio.
