Pulpo means "octopus" in Spanish, and this cephalopod mollusc is inevitably a mainstay on the menu here. The wood-grilled baby octopus is served with fennel and grapefruit in a citrus vinaigrette. Pulpo offers a non-traditional take on Spanish inspired tapas with modern American fusion. Located in the historic Cleveland Park neighborhood, Pulpo's contemporary yet minimalist industrial décor is a unique and exciting addition to the neighborhood. In addition to the main dining room, Pulpo offers a more private dining experience on our mezzanine level which is also perfect for large parties. Our extensive beverage menu features wines from Spain, South America and Europe, three delicious Sangrias available by the glass or liter, and numerous specialty cocktails.

Floriana owner Dino Tapper recently soft-opened a new Spanish tapas-inspired restaurant called Pulpo in Cleveland Park. But he hopes it won't be just another small plates place. It'll have some quirky twists too, especially after the grand opening later this month. Here's what to expect: An "octopus garden": Pulpo infused its name—which mean octopus in Spanish—into many aspects of dining... opportunity to taste the tentacles.

Cleveland Park tapas spot Pulpo (3407 Connecticut Ave., NW) opened for dinner a few weeks back, but at the time had not yet secured its all-important liquor license. We can say with certainty, however, that the restaurant in the former Tackle Box space is now serving beer, wine, and cocktails. Co-owner Mike Finkelstein designed the menu of mixed drinks. The best we've tried so far is the Cuba Libre Deconstruido. . .

Dino Tapper and his partner, Mike Finkelstein, are old friends—they both attended high school at Bethesda-Chevy Chase. Restaurants are in Tapper's blood—he bought Floriana, his Dupont Italian eatery, from his mother, and says that back in the ’70s his father ran an Italian restaurant in the space that currently houses Sorriso at 3518 Connecticut Avenue, Northwest. Just down the block and across the street is Pulpo, Tapper and Finkelstein’s new tapas restaurant in the former Cleveland Park Tackle Box. . .
