About

Notice: The Back Porch Café will be closing on Sunday, November 27 in the PM. This will conclude the season of 2013. We will re open for our 40th season some where around May 1st. Come on in for the last hurrah! Get your last coctails from Bee and maybe some sweetbreads to tide you over. The final Brunch of the season, or just your last house coffee for a while. Or better yet just drop by and say, Hello.

Established in the Summer of 1974, the Back Porch Café is fast approaching its 40th anniversary. It is is the oldest fine-dining establishment in Rehoboth Beach. Innovative cuisine that is rejuvenated every summer, excellent wine, outstanding service and convivial atmosphere are consistently executed making it one of Rehoboth Beach's finest restaurants despite its very short season.

For over 10 years in the 1980's we had a fourth partner who shared the position of executive chef with Leo. His name is Siri Svasti (known in Thailand as Chef McDang) and after he left the partnership he worked in Baltimore and Key West before returning to his own country of Thailand after a 20 year absence. He has become the most famous and celebrated television chef and expert on Thai Cuisine in all of Thailand and South East Asia. He has recently published his first English language cookbook "Principles of Thai Cookery" which will likely become the definitive textbook and cookbook for Thai Cuisine, the ingredients that go into it, and the culture which produced it.

Editorial Reviews

Back Porch Café
Rehoboth Foodie | June 1, 2013

Restaurants like the Back Porch Café can make life difficult for a restaurant reviewer. No matter how many times I visit, it's just about impossible to find anything substantial to kvetch about. How can I maintain any credibility if I can't whine about something!?!
