About

The anouncement in 2012 that restaurater Hakan Ilhan together with celebrated Executive Chef Robert Donna will be opening a new restaurant adjacent to Mount Vernon Square was welcomed news to an area of the city redolent of substantial historic import and one which which is still undergoing one of the largest and most creative transformative redevelopment in recent times. Additional interest was generated when Amy Brandwein was named Chef de Cuisine, which meant that she would be de facto running the kithen and, therefore, with sole responsibility for ensuring a satisfying experience for her patrons in terms of culinary quality and quick turn-around time in servicing food. Alba Osteria opens in Mount Vernon Triangle
Tom Sietsema, The Washington Post | January 13, 2014

Among the marvels for the chef de cuisine at Alba Osteria is the openess of her audience in Mount Vernon Triangle. “Nobody blinks an eye” at the tripe soup or veal tongue on the Piedmont-inspired menu, says Amy Brandwein, formerly of the shuttered Casa Nonna downtown.  The chef is temporarily reuniting at Alba with Roberto Donna, with whom she last cooked six years ago at the late Galileo downtown. . .
